Church Letter Virus Crisis
The following verses from Romans 5 can prove to be helpful and insightful during times of difficulty.
"We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love."
(Romans 5:3–5, NLT)
The promise of both God’s love and his Spirit are sources of encouragement and hope that we not only need, but need to spread to the world around us too!
We are facing a time of several unknowns. This past week has brought several surprises, but I would remind all of us that none of these were surprises to God! I truly believe that we need to continue to have faith in God, and need to remain faithful to our calling from God to be beacons of light in a dark world.
One way we can do this is to focus not on our fears, but on our sense of call to be servants to God’s plan of Shalom and healing. What does this look like? Possibly looking around for needs of people around us that need to be met. Does my neighbor need something? Is there something I can do for my co-worker? Don’t forget about the telephone! Even when we are supposed to be isolated from others so as not to spread or contract the virus, that doesn’t mean we can’t show love and concern by calling or texting those around us. We don’t want to forget that we are called to be the voice of Jesus, and reflect his love to the world.
Last week we felt compelled to cancel church because of the call from authorities to try and limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus. At this point, we have decided to cancel church services for the rest of the month of March, and as well as cancel any meetings that were scheduled to happen in March. Church Leadership will continue to monitor the situation and will re-evaluate at that time.
During this time that we are not meeting on Sundays, we will be providing a scriptural message through a link on the “Shore Church” FaceBook page. This will be posted by Sunday each week. During these weeks we will not be collecting an offering, but you can always mail in your offering, or drop it by the church during the week and leave it at the office.
If you have specific prayer requests please feel free to call the church and make your request known. If you encounter any physical needs during this time (for example you need a meal, groceries, mail from church dropped off) feel free to call the church and we will see that someone helps you out.
